When Bob does his Human Jukebox program the audience chooses the songs. On every table there is are colourful laminated menu’s, a pen and some request-forms.
Bob has two sorts of menu’s. The Sweet and Mellow Menu for intimate events/restaurants and the Full Deal Menu (350 songs) for all other occasions.
There is also the possibility to make a selection on forehand by the party organisers. Just choose the over-all-style on forehand.
The many faces of Bob. A versatile vocalist, Bob Color’s career began in Amsterdam. In the late 80′s he had the opportunity to open for Eddy Floyd, Percy Sledge, Junior Walker and Rufus Thomas. He continued to add to this list of music legends by opening for acts such as, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Pretenders, Neneh Cherry, Golden Earring, Candy Dulfer and a host of well known Dutch acts. In the nineties The Bob Color Band became a headliner on thier own rights. They sold out venues up to 1500 and played over 250 festivals.
His voice is compared to the likes of Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Tom Jones. In fact, you can hear a bit of each one when Bob sings. Just like Joe Cocker and Tom Jones his repertoire is a mix of almost every possible music-style. From sixties, thru seventies and eighties into Now..
Repertoire. He can travel through
five decades of some of the best and most well-known pop, chart, soul, disco, motown, rat pack jazz, dance, reggae, ska, rock, blues, jive and rock ‘n roll songs. Wedding, Dinner or Party: His main aim is to make sure every guest has a great time. And when it’s party time it is dancing until we drop! More than 350 songs to choose… He is so successful because he likes what he does! He is a born entertainer with a great voice. But most of all, he is a ‘Show-off’. A One-Man-Show with silly dances and funny moves. Never shy or dull. Always flexible and ready to please. He gives his heart and all his energy while singing. Constantly moving. On stage or in between the audience. On balcony’s or what other possibilities the location gives. He is a gifted madman with a microphone. Boogie and atmosphere.
And he can read his audience. He feels the mood of the moment. He works with more than 350 songs (In total up to 20 hours). This means that Bob can pick his set depending on the situation and the audience. His choice could be a mix of everything. During dinner he can easily fill hours with blues, jazz and soul ballads.
In an event with a ‘younger crowd’ he could picks the more obscure or more recent music. Dance, House, R&B and even a bit of rap. And for Party Time Bob has a set of pounding up-tempo dance-floor fillers, Classic Motown, Sixties Beat, Seventies-rock, Blues Brothers Rhythm & Blues and Eighties and Nineties Pop. More than enough variety! He does many golden oldies, but not the same short list as the regular bar-bands play. Bob chooses songs that everybody recognises with an ‘ Oh yeah ‘ not with a ‘Not that one again’. And on his repertoire list there is also more than two hours of dance music of recent years.
Since his debut in 1987 Bob had almost 25 years of intense touring. More than 140 shows yearly gives a total of over 3000. This energy-machine lives for the stage. Fronting a band, as part of a Children’s Music Theater, in Duo or as the Human Jukebox doing his solo. He loves singing! There is always new songs and new challenges. Bob has performed twice at the North Sea Jazz Festival and 5 times at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Out of the spotlight. In 2003 Bob decided to slow down. He stopped recording and dissolved his band. Concentrating on Solo shows he started working in Thailand during the European Winter. He also started touring Spain (Costa Del Sol) and Portugal (Algarve). Now in his fifties he enjoyes the good life.
Bob’s use of backing tracks means that he can concentrate on getting his vocal sound as perfect as possible. His backing tracks are of the highest digital quality and feature real musicians playing real instruments – they are note perfect every time! He can accurately recreate your favourite songs at a fraction of the cost of a live band. Listen on the audio page.
The concentration on live vocals in his live music sets means that Bob can achieve the best sound possible. A live band run the risk of sounding poor unless every member is a 100% competent player. Their sound is also less versatile as many live instruments such as brass and drums are unable to play at quieter volumes. Full bands also need a larger and more complex PA system which is both difficult and time consuming to set up and, if configured incorrectly, can sound poor and ruin your special evening.
Some reviews:
‘Bob is a reliable professional. His presentation and voice are top notch. The way he interacts with the crowd is one of his most powerful attributes. He gets everyone involved which is something every event needs. He took care of everything from the PA to the sound mixing.’
‘Excellent ability, flexibility, and very personable. He provided a wonderful quiet background when needed and then more active, popular songs later on.Very excellent entertainer, and added greatly to our small wedding’
‘Our guests were very impressed and are still talking about it’
Bob brings most of the needed technical equipment. Simply said: a wireless microphone, a mixing desk and 3 music-players. He can easily connect to most sound systems (the speakers that are already on the location). Simply said the sound system that most places use for their normal-level background music are suitable for this act. For small parties (up to 100) Bob can bring 2 full-range speakers.
For Thailand: Bob has a Work-Permit through his own Bob Color Music Productions Company (under the wings of Samui Law). Therefore he is free to work everywhere on Samui, Koh Phangnah and Surat Thani province in Thailand. Bob speaks fluent English, German and his native language Dutch.
The power of Bob on stage. When we look back on the career of Bob Color: No matter which program or how big the crowd, one thing always stood firm: Bob’s unbelievable presence. With an unheard mixture of different musical styles, and a powerful over-energetic performance, he won every audience as well as new fans. It brought Bob Color a widespread recognition as a ‘never-to-miss’ experience. Bob Color Solo is always a strong combination of soulfull singing, open personality and wonderfull presentation.
Bob has seven CD recordings to his credit. Two on a Virgin label.
